Mohenjo-daro twin textiles

The most famous discovery at Mohenjo-daro is undoubtedly the bronze Dancing Girl (c. 2,500 BCE), the protagonist in this piece. The figurine is the earliest evidence of lost-wax metal casting in South Asia - a technique employed by Odisha’s indigenous dhokra artisans even today.

Through its motifs, Kotpad handloom makes a compelling case to metaphorically represent the cultural fabric of Odisha. The extra weft bird sits as an observer - witness to shifting traditions and overlapping narratives through history.
